TOP GEAR is coming to France! Hello, AmaZili Communication…

The BBC, a new client for AmaZili

Impossible? Not for AmaZili!

According to the Guinness Book of Records, Top Gear is the world’s most-watched documentary programme. It’s a must-see for car enthusiasts and a source of pride for the British Broadcasting Corporation, the BBC.

Filming for Top Gear France takes place at Brienne-le-Château airfield on 27, 28, 29 and 30 January 2015. It’s a first: it’s being filmed in front of a French live audience.

Wednesday 14 January, afternoon. A message on the graphics studio’s answering machine: “This is Cécile, from the Top Gear programme for the BBC; we need badges…”

Thursday 15 January, morning. We find the message, ring Cécile back straight away, ask her for details of the order and send a quotation.

Friday 16 January, morning. Further enquiries about the quote from Lucie: they also need access wristbands for the audience. New quote.

Friday 16 January, afternoon. Agreement in principle on the quotation, initial mock-ups, clarification on deadlines. Order placed for lanyards for the badges.

Monday 19 January, morning. Quote signed, deposit paid. Go-ahead given for the badges and access control wristbands.

Monday 19 January, afternoon. Printing of tamper-proof badges on tear-proof, water-resistant material. Finishing: cutting on a guillotine and punching holes for the lanyards. Access control wristbands sent to production.

Tuesday 20 January, afternoon. The lanyards have arrived!

Wednesday 21 January, morning. The badges and lanyards were sent via Chronopost to the BBC’s head office.

Thursday 22 January, morning. The badges have arrived safely at BBC Worldwide’s headquarters. The wristbands are being made and are due to be dispatched that same evening via TNT.

Friday 23 January, morning. The wristbands were delivered to BBC Worldwide’s headquarters.

Tuesday 27 January. Filming of the live episode of Top Gear began in Brienne-le-Château.

Mission accomplished!

AmaZili would like to thank everyone without whom this would not have been possible: Valérie Giudicelli, for coming up with the idea on her way out of the dentist’s…; Cécile and Lucie, from BBC Worldwide (now BBC Studios), for their prompt response; Stéphane, for producing the wristbands in record time; Danièle, for lending a hand with the paper cutter; and all the unsung heroes along the production and delivery chain. Thank you for this swift and efficient team effort.
