AmaZili: repair of a hacked website in Valence

Has your website been hacked, is it down, or is it so slow that your customers are complaining? Is your service provider no longer responding, or unable to offer a solution?

AmaZili works on websites it hasn’t created just as it does on its own: we get your website back up and running, then we maintain it to ensure it stays that way.

Hacked website: what we do as soon as you call

A hacked website can spread malware to your visitors, send fraudulent emails in your name, or be flagged as dangerous by Google. Every hour counts, and we take immediate action:

  1. we block unauthorised access and redirect your visitors to a holding page;
  2. we keep a record of the attack to trace its origin;
  3. we clean up the website, patch the exploited vulnerability and reset passwords;
  4. we bring the site back online and, if necessary, ask Google to lift its warning.

Until we intervene, do not delete anything: the modified files and server logs are what enable us to trace the source of the attack and prevent it from happening again.

The attacks we handle

Thanks to our teams’ experience and a network of security specialists, we protect websites against common attacks:

  • SQL injection, which reads or modifies your database;
  • denial-of-service attacks, which render your site inaccessible;
  • traffic hijacking, which redirects your visitors to other sites;
  • cryptomining scripts, which exploit your server or your visitors’ computers;
  • phishing, where fraudulent pages are placed on your site;
  • the sending of unsolicited emails from your server, which results in your domain being blacklisted;
  • the diversion of payments from an online shop via a fake credit card form.

To avoid this happening, read our post on the five most common web security mistakes and how to avoid them.

Website repair: when you’ve lost control of your site

A website can stop working properly without having been attacked. We also step in when:

  • your site is slow, displays errors or a blank page;
  • your PrestaShop or Magento online shop is down;
  • your WordPress site hasn’t been updated for a long time;
  • you’ve lost your passwords or access to your hosting account;
  • your hosting provider does not allow you to upgrade to a recent version of PHP;
  • your security certificate has expired and browsers are displaying a warning;
  • your website, whether built by yourself or a friend, has reached its limits;
  • your service provider has gone out of business.

If your website’s technology is too outdated to be repaired, we’ll let you know, and we’ll suggest a complete overhaul rather than a short-term fix. To switch hosting providers, take a look at our hosting packages and, as an example, the migration of the Chabanne agency’s website.

How does the troubleshooting process work?

  1. You call us or fill in the form: an initial 15-minute consultation, free of charge, to understand the situation;
  2. we agree on the terms of the work, which begins upon receipt of your order form;
  3. we carry out a diagnosis of your website and provide you with a report detailing the issues identified;
  4. we offer you several options for resolving the issues, with a quote, to restore normal operation.

In the event of a cyberattack, immediate protective measures take priority over the written report.

TMA: application maintenance for your website

A website that is not kept up to date becomes vulnerable: many cyber-attacks exploit a vulnerability that the publisher has already fixed, but for which the update has not been installed. As part of third-party application maintenance (TMA), our team ensures:

  • updates to the CMS or framework, its modules and extensions, after checking their compatibility;
  • site security and the rectification of any issues;
  • updating your content: creating pages and blog posts, and editing your photos and videos, whilst adhering to SEO best practice.

We work on WordPress, PrestaShop, Magento and MODX websites. Our maintenance contracts are fixed-price; one-off troubleshooting is carried out on a quoted basis. To find out more, read our post on website migration, hosting and maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if my website is hacked?

Do not delete anything; if possible, change the passwords for your admin panel and hosting account, and call us on 09 72 27 00 22. We’ll take it from there.

Can you take over a website created by another provider?

Yes, regardless of who built it, and even if you no longer have access details. We’ll start with a diagnostic assessment to find out what your website is made of and what condition it’s in.

How much does website maintenance cost?

Regular maintenance is carried out under a fixed-price contract, tailored to your website and the work you entrust to us. One-off troubleshooting, or the repair of a hacked website, is subject to a quote following an initial free consultation.

Why update a website that’s working?

Because it will work until the day someone exploits a known vulnerability. And because web hosts are phasing out older versions of PHP: a website that’s too old will eventually no longer be able to be hosted at all.
